OVpay: Easily check in- and out with your payment card or OV-pas

Are you already traveling with OVpay? 
You can check in and out with the new OV-pas or your debit card. This allows you to travel anywhere in the Netherlands by train, bus, tram, and metro. Just like you're used to: tap your card against the card reader and you're done! The OV-pas and debit card are replacing the OV-chipkaart, which is being phased out. After all these years, the technology is outdated and needs to be replaced. That is why we are switching to OVpay. The new OV-pas costs €6 and is valid for 5 years. You can order it at ovpay.nl. 

Personalize your card
When you add your personal details to your debit card or OV-pas, the card will be registered in your name. This means you can receive age-related discounts if you are eligible and add a subscription. Only you will be able to travel with your card.

Can you already switch to OVpay?
Do you travel with subscriptions or travel products? A lot is already possible with a debit card. The OV-pas does not yet work for all subscriptions or travel products such as first-class travel. In Almere, you can add all allGo subscriptions to both your debit card and your OV-pas.

Do you also travel with subscriptions from other transport companies? Use the selection tool on the OVpay website to see if you can already switch completely.

NEW: Faster and easier check-in and check-out with the Express setting
Passengers can now check in and out using their digital debit card without having to unlock their mobile phone first. This requires fewer steps and makes traveling with OVpay faster and easier. For more information about this setting and how to enable it, visit www.ovpay.nl.

Automatic recharge for your OV-pas
With automatic recharge, you’ll always have enough credit on your OV-pas. If your balance falls below €10, it will be automatically topped up. You can choose the amount by which we top up your balance each time: €10, €20, or €50. You can enable this feature in your OVpay account. Click here for more information.

Age discount, also on debit cards

What is an age discount?
Children aged 4 to 11 and people aged 65 and over are entitled to a 34% discount when traveling by bus, tram, or metro (but not by train). We call this an age discount. You can also check in and out with your debit card or Ov-pas when using the age discount.

The advantages of checking in and out with your debit or credit card

• You no longer need to top up your balance.
• It saves you having to carry a card in your wallet.
• You don't need to buy a new OV-pas.

How do I activate the age discount on my debit card or OV-pas?
You can add an age-based discount to your card using your OVpay account. Have you already added your card to your OVpay account?Great! Then you only need to take a few more steps.

1. Log in to your OVpay account
2. Go to Cards in the OVpay app.
3. Go to More options and select Add age-based discount.
4. Follow the steps on your screen.

Can I also use OVpay with my debit card or subscription?

You can check in and out with:

• Contactless debits card from ABN AMRO, ASN bank, bunq, ING, Rabobank, Knab, Regiobank, or SNS.
• Contactless credit cards from Mastercard and Visa (issued by ICS)
• Smartphones that are set up with contactless payment with a card from above-mentioned debit and credit cards. Also with Apple Pay and Google Wallet
• A foreign contactless debit or credit cards from Maestro, V pay, Mastercard, or Visa

You won't even need an OV-pas or subscription. No registration is necessary.
