Rates for 2026

Every year, public transport fares for city and regional transport are determined using the National Fare Index (LTI). The index for 2026 is 3.86%.

This appendix provides an overview of the fares for 2026 in Almere.

Base and balance fare
The base fare is the same throughout the Netherlands and will increase from €1.12 to €1.16. The kilometer fare in Almere will increase from €0.185 to €0.192 and is still the lowest in the entire region. An average trip of 5 kilometers cost €2.05 in Almere in 2025 and will cost €2.12 in 2026.

AllGo travel products
The price of some individual tickets will increase. The price of discount products will remain the same. After three years without price increases, AllGo Vrij Stad and AllGo Dal Vrij Senior will increase in price. The reduced rate for seniors will be discontinued for AllGo Vrij Stad. AllGo subscriptions for the OV-chipkaart will no longer be available from January 1. Therefore, switch to OVpay subscriptions now. 

Regional travel products
The Randstad Noord Zone monthly subscription for the OV-chipkaart will be available until February 28, 2026. This product will be discontinued. The Randstad Noord Vrij subscription and the Amsterdam & Region Travel Ticket will increase in price.

We are switching to OVpay. 
OVpay is the new way to check in and out on public transport. You can use your debit card, credit card, mobile phone, or soon the new OV-pas. With OVpay, you can travel anywhere in the Netherlands by train, bus, tram, and metro. OVpay is the successor to the familiar OV-chipkaart. 

That is why our OV-chipkaart subscriptions are being discontinued. They will be replaced by new OVpay subscriptions. An added bonus: you no longer need to pick up an OVpay subscription from a ticket machine. For convenience, switch to OVpay now, so you can continue to travel with us on a subscription in 2026.

Can I still travel on credit with the OV-chipkaart in Almere?
Yes, that's no problem. Only the OV-chipkaart subscriptions in Almere will be discontinued. Throughout 2026, you can still use your OV-chipkaart to travel with credit. If your OV-chipkaart expires in 2026, we recommend that you switch to traveling with your debit card or the new OV-pas at that time.
